Walkway or Sidewalk Application
Creative walkway design is encouraged, using brick, pavers, textured concrete or a combination of pavers and concrete to complement the entry to the home and coordinate with the driveway. On sloping lots, consider ‘sunken’ or cut-in walkways. On flat sites, mounding or curves may be considered to help the walkway blend with the site.
Natural concrete, brick pavers and stamped concrete have become very popular when designing patios and walkways. The ideal walkway connects strongly with the entrance making it easy to access the door and can add to your home’s landscape. It is deal that it be part of an entry garden, partially enclosing it with plantings. Incorporating curves will add interest but don't overdo it; long, subtle curves are often best. The walkway can add beauty while providing a way to traverse the yard without stepping on grass that is wet and muddy. Give adequate thought to the finish taking into consideration Ohio climate changes.
When making changes or additions to the walkways on your property, written approval from the Muirfield Design Control Committee must be obtained prior to starting the project. This guide sheet will assist in preparing an application to the Muirfield Design Control Committee. These guidelines are in accordance with the Muirfield Design Standards.
To avoid delays and to prevent the application from being tabled, please ensure the application is filled out completely and include two copies of the application and two each of all relevant materials (samples, photos, drawings, site maps, brochures, etc.) plus the design review fee.
